Beta
UCC's second main tier. The lack of top tier, hyper offensive powerhouses means the metagame is generally a little slower than what is typically seen in Gamma. Click a pokemon's picture to go to its page.
Metalynx
The quintessential bulky Steel of Beta, Metalynx leverages its amazing typing and strong stats to act as either a solid wall or a powerful tank. A lack of reliable recovery and exploitable weaknesses to Fire and strong Fighting moves prevent it from being overbearing.

Archilles
A very versatile pokemon, Archilles can use its speed and average attacking stats to run both effective support and attacking sets as needed.

Cubblfly
A pokemon with no right to be as bulky as it is. Cubblfly combines its good defensive stats with Eviolite, Roost, Magic Bounce, and a strong defensive typing to become a virtually unkillable wall with access to both U-Turn and good support moves.

Gararewl
As one of the pokemon graced with both Rapid Spin and solid bulk, Gararewl finds its purpose as a bulky hazard remover. It has options that allow it to do decent damage as well, but it usually wants at least some bulk investment to check specific threats.

Tofurang
As a pure Poison type with Intimidate, Roost, and access to Will-o-Wisp and Toxic (Spikes), Tofurang is usually tasked with checking dangerous physical attackers and spreading status. It can also slow pivot with U-Turn in a pinch.

Gyarados
Gyarados is back, and is still doing the same things it's always been known to do. Namely, setting up with Dragon Dance, then sweeping with brutally powerful Waterfalls and coverage moves. It can also opt for bulkier sets to check types that it resists.

Arbok-Mega
Arbok got a Mega Evolution, and it's partially based on Medusa! Heck yeah! The addition of the Dark type to Arbok makes it a dangerous opponent in the right hands, as it now has STAB on Sucker Punch and Pursuit and is immune to Psychic attacks. The combination of Coil and Gunk Shot with Earthquake as coverage can also be lethal if this 8 headed snake is given a chance to set up safely.

Arbok-Nuclear-Mega
Compared to its base form, Nuclear Mega Arbok trades the ability to hold an item for 10 more points of speed, a notable amount of increased bulk, the Petrify Ability, and a large increase to its attack stat. It can take hits that Nuclear Arbok could only dream of and hit certain checks with powerful physical coverage, but its Special Attack stat is exactly the same as its base form's. Reliance on Radioacid as its Nuclear type STAB makes one wonder if this tradeoff is worth it.

Tanscure
An incredibly powerful physical attacker with access to Tough Claws boosted STABs, priority, and U-Turn. It can also run Moxie and Guts for less immediate but potentially greater firepower.

Tanscure-Mystery
The infamous mystery gift that is simply known as Extreme Speed Tanscure. Despite having extra strong priority though, it faces limitations in being locked to using Moxie with a Jolly nature.

Palij-Nuclear
Nuclear Palij is a reasonably fast and powerful Nuclear type with two strong STABs in Fire moves and Nuclear Wind. Its defensive switchins are few in number with that combination, and its (locked) Flame Body ability can sometimes give it the last laugh if it's taken out with a contact move.

Astronite
A pokemon with strong options for both offensive and lead sets, Astronite is a staple on certain Hyper Offense structures, even in higher tiers.

Astronite-Mystery
This mystery gift looks as fragile as its stats would suggest now! Guard Swap, Power Swap, and Psycho Cut are all new egg moves for its species, but the real treasure here is access to the exclusive signature move Gemstone Glimmer, a Special Rock type move that can lower the target's accuracy. If you were planning to use Trace for your ability, this form is functionally identical to the original.

Baariette
A very strong but slow physical attacker, Baariette utilizes its near unresisted Dark and Fighting STAB combination to punch holes in the opposing team. Status spamming pokemon need to be careful when there's a Baariette around, lest they make it even stronger if it's running the Guts Ability. Its other two abilities, Moxie and Intimidate, can also cause problems by changing what kinds of pokemon can reliably check Baariette.

Baariette-Mystery
Everything said about regular Baariette also applies to Mystery Baariette, but this form cannot use the Intimidate Ability and has a locked Adamant nature.

Trawpint-Nuclear
Nuclear Trawpint has Radioacid and very balanced stats. Coupled with its Poison typing and access to Fire moves, it's very capable of inflicting serious damage to the opposing team, but it will struggle to take strong attacks that aren't neutral against it.

Drilgann-Mega
With the highest Attack in the game, Swords Dance, and the Sand Rush ability, Mega Drilgann is a terror every time it hits the battlefield while its preferred weather is active. It also has access to Rapid Spin if that tickles your fancy. Without a Sandstorm up, however, this Mega is easily checked offensively by anything that hit its many, many weaknesses.

Cocancer
The giant beach crab that will be eternally eclipsed as a Shell Smasher compared to its rival beach snails. That's not to say it's bad. A surprising amount of coverage allows it to pick and choose its checks and counters, and it can even attempt to run bulkier sets with the Harvest ability if it so desires.

Cocancer-Mystery
Now even the pumpkins have legs?!
A much bulkier take on Cocancer that has the Filter ability. It's also locked to having an Impish nature. Otherwise, it plays almost exactly like a regular Cocancer does.

Tracton
With both Speed Boost and Swords Dance, Tracton is a setup sweeper that's incredibly hard to stop once it gets going. Alternatively, it can offer an immunity to Electric moves (and thus Volt Switch) by running the Motor Drive Ability, or become a much harder to switch into powerhouse by running the Analytic Ability.

Tracton-Mystery
A Tracton that's locked into using Speed Boost with a Jolly nature, and can use the moves Present and Fissure. Given that Present is a terrible move in competitive and Fissure is banned, though, this form isn't much of an upgrade.

Daikatuna
As the frailest fully evolved Steel type in the game, Daikatuna prefers to hit first, ask questions later. Good thing it's really good at that! With both Sheer Force and Swift Swim as possible abilities, it can be either really strong or really fast depending on a team's needs and support options.

Syrentide
One of the bulkiest bulky water types in the game, in part thanks to her excellent defensive typing. One of the few pokemon that can reliably use Rest as semi-reliable recovery. The existence of Cute Charm on her sets means that pokemon with contact moves could also end up crippled by Infatuation if they are Male.

It's Syrentide, but now she has Tri Attack and Future Sight too. This Mystery Gift also unlocked the egg moves of Amnesia and Disarming Voice for all members of its species.

Jolteon
As the fastest pokemon in Beta and one of the few pokemon in the game with Volt Switch, Jolteon has a tendency to take advantage of Beta teams' lack of Electric immunities to do substantial chip damage and momentum stealing every time it hits the field. It's ironically also a check to itself thanks to its Volt Absorb Ability, but Quick Feet can also take advantage of passive status spreaders to make it even harder to outpace.

Nucleon
As its Atomizate Ability has been banished to Ubers, Nucleon has to rely on the somewhat unreliable combination of Geiger Sense and Gamma Ray to actually be threatening to the enemy team. Unique access to Synchronoise and a respectable base speed of 90 makes it a situational check to some opposing Nuclear types as well.

Dramsama-Mega
A brutally powerful and fast special attacker, Mega Dramsama utilizes its Ghost typing and Illusion in its base form to create setup opportunities for itself once the pokemon that can check it have been removed.
A brutally powerful and fast special attacker, Mega Dramsama utilizes its Ghost typing and Illusion in its base form to create setup opportunities for itself once the pokemon that can check it have been removed.
Dramsama-Mystery-Mega
A Mega Dramsama that's unable to use Illusion and is locked to using a Timid nature. While it lacks access to the base form's greatest strength in Illusion, it gave all Dramsama access to the egg moves Telekinesis and Yawn.

Luchabra
Luchabra is a strong Fighting type that doesn't fear Fairy types thanks to its additional Poison typing. If you're feeling a little gutsy, it can even increase its power further with the Hustle Ability. For those not feeling gutsy, it can spread Poison with Poison Point/Touch instead.

Frosthra
This icy moth has a gigantic 140 Special Attack stat and huge speed coupled with Quiver Dance and Freeze Dry, but a rather severe allergy to Fire and Rock plus a notable weakness to physical attacks. With good hazard removal and teammates that can deal with physical priority, Frosthra can become an incredibly dangerous set up sweeper that not even bulky Waters can check safely.

Lavent
As a Fire and Dragon type with Adaptability, Lavent is an incredibly powerful wallbreaker. Access to Eruption makes it even stronger, but emphasizes its weakness to Stealth Rock even further, mandating good hazard control on the team.

Lavent-Mystery
Mmmmmm, chocolate....OH ARCEUS, IT BUUUUURRRRRRNNNNNSSSSS!!!!
Take a Lavent, give it access to its unobtainable egg move Inferno, and then slap on top the event moves Yawn, Sacred Fire, and V-Create for good measure. Oh, and you can still use all of your usual Special Attacks as well. This thing is a monster, able to output absurd amounts of Fire and Dragon damage on both the physical and special side. And the only thing you trade for it is a lack of access to Dragon Pulse and Incinerate.

Navighast
Navighast has the coveted Ghost/Fighting STAB combination, allowing it to deal unresisted STAB damage no matter what's in front of it. Low powered STAB moves means it needs to set up to be threatening outside of revenge killing weakened targets with its priority move of choice.

Haagross
Haagross has a huge amount of Special bulk and the Regenerator ability, making it incredibly difficult to KO with most Special attacks. Access to Volt Switch makes it even harder to KO, and it's more than willing to risk taking a little bit of damage to set up hazards or inflict status effects. A vulnerability to physical moves and a huge weakness to the Ground type can throw a wrench into its plans, however.

Haagross-Mystery
A Haagross that's locked into using the Gooey Ability. It's not particularly notable competitively, but gave in-game Hagoop access to Volt Switch, Drain Life, Acid Spray, and Charge.

Xenogen
A dangerous cleaner and wallbreaker in the right hands, this pure Nuclear type can very easily exploit its access to Radioacid to demolish teams that lack a healthy check to it. This is a pokemon that needs to be played around carefully on both sides, though, as it has no defensive profile whatsoever (not counting its resistance to Nuclear attacks).

Kiricorn
With the prevelance of Sticky Web teams, it's no surprise that Defiant Kiricorn would pop up as a dangerous wallbreaker and Webs deterrent. As one of the faster pokemon in Beta, Kiricorn is more than happy to act as a cleaner against weakened teams as well.

Oblivicorn
The dark to Kiricorn's light, Oblivicorn is a little slower but also a little more powerful as a physical attacker. The additional Dark typing gives it a STAB Knock Off and priority in Sudden Strike, and all three of its abilities can reasonably see play.

Fallengel
This pokemon is surprisingly good at taking physical hits while equipped with an Eviolite, and is surprisingly good at dealing damage as well if EVed appropriately. The Defiant and Intimidate Abilities even help augment both traits further, and the Disenchant Ability and Infernal Blade help cement its role as the anti-Fairy pokemon. It is a very slow pokemon though, and has no reliable recovery to supplement its bulk.

Fallengel-Mystery
The Mystery form of Fallengel operates very similarly to the base form, but cannot use the Disenchant Ability. In exchange, it gets exclusive access to the move Metal Whip, turning it into a pokemon with trapping capabilities.

Garlikid
It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's a head of garlic with a cape and a skin tight jumpsuit! Despite how ridiculous it might look, Garlikid can be a legitimately dangerous pokemon thanks to its high offensive stats, decent bulk, and massive amount of coverage moves. It can pick and choose its checks in the builder, a dangerous trait for a pokemon of this power level to have.
